Hunger Games launches fashionable viral campaign
Lionsgate has big hopes for The Hunger Games, the soon-to-hit female-fronted action-adventure franchise that is expected to rival Harry Potter and Twilight in its cross-demographic appeal., The movie's marketing has been meticulous in reaching out to various aspects of its extensive fan base, most notably when the first second (yes, second) of footage was premiered during September's MTV Video Music Awards.
The more culture-oriented members of the film's fan base will appreciate the blog Capitol Couture. Here fashion-minded fans can get sneak peaks at some of the production's daring avant-garde costume design, including some striking heels created by the late fashion icon Alexander McQueen. The star of Capitol Couture is Effie Trinket, a fashionista and PR rep played by the ever-effervescent Elizabeth Banks, who works her look like a Rococo geisha with a steam-punk twist.
