Get loaded at Smart Bar, Sonic Youth to issue vintage live album
Alt rock icons Sonic Youth are set to release Smart Bar - Chicago 1985 on double LP, CD and digital media on November 14th.
Issued on the band's Goofin' Records label, the archived recording features the band performing at Chicago hotspot Smart Bar on August 11, 1985 and is from the Bad Moon Rising/EVOL era. The 14 songs have been mastered and mixed for the release and also includes liner notes from Gerard Cosloy and Aaron Mullan, with photographs by Pat Blashill and Steven Koress.
In a recent Rolling Stone interview, guitarist Lee Ranaldo discussed the band digitizing their discography and hinted at possible upcoming releases, including Smart Bar, a compilation of unreleased film music, a 1986 tour documentary, and bonus demos from 1987's Sister, which would be released as a deluxe reissue.
