Get happily marooned with Taken By Trees new single
On Oct. 2 ,Swedish pop songstress Victoria Bergsman, a.k.a. Taken By Trees, will release her latest full-length album Other Worlds via Secretly Canadian. The follow-up to her 2009 sophomore effort East of Eden, the new record is heavily inspired by the islands in Hawaii, where Bergsman had visited and ultimately recorded the album.
Maintaining the vacationing vibe is the music video for Taken By Trees' first single, "Dreams." Directed by Amanda Maralis, the clip is an exploration of the Hawaiian landscape, featuring plenty of beautiful beaches and tropical foliage. For the majority of the video Bergsman keeps her back to the camera, almost as if the act of the looking back would destroy the illusion of her own peaceful isolation.
According to Bergsman, "I hardly remember my dreams these days. Sometimes, if I am lucky and I wake up very late, I find a thin film of another time or another life. I try desperately to capture this residue of a dream before it quickly fades. But the kind of dream I am referring to in this song is more like a sense of longing, a vision of a place where things are quiet, like floating in the ocean off of Hawaii."
