Ed for the Wyn: Edwyn Collins returns with new album, single, film, and tour
Alt rocker Edwyn Collins has announced the release date for his upcoming and eighth studio album: March 25, 2013. Understated will be distributed through Analogue Enhanced Digital (AED) Records, Collins' own label he started with Sebastian Lewsley, co-producer at West Heath Studios.
The former Orange Juice frontman has spent majority of 2012 working on AED releases. The record label has produced and distributed music from the likes of Vic Godard, Colorama, and Charlie Boyer & The Voyeurs. Collins' new album follows on the heels of 2010's Losing Sleep and is recorded by Richard Hawley. The album features a plethora of guest talent, including James Walbourne, Barrie Cadogan, and Paul Cook, to name a few.
Understated also coincides with the release of In Your Voice, In Your Heart, a film about Collins' 2005 stroke that left him unable to walk or speak, and his journey to his present state. The film is directed by James Hall and Ed Lovelace, and is produced by Lucas Ochoa and Thomas Benski.
Collins will be embarking on an 11-date UK tour in April 2013, beginning in Leeds on April 12, and wrapping up in Brighton on April 25.
