Dirty Projectors preview new album
Domino Records has announced the impending release of the sixth album by Dirty Projectors. Swing Lo Magellan is due July 10.
Recorded at bandleader Dave Longstreth's house in upstate New York, the album is yet another stylistic change-up for the mercurial band. This time, they're mixing live, traditional indie rock instrumentation with both programmed beats and Longstreth's modern-classical string arrangements performed by the chamber group yMusic, whose previous credits include work with My Brightest Diamond on last year's All Things Will Unwind. The album features a slightly different band lineup: the press release claims singer Angel Deradoorian is "on hiatus."
