Critical 5 things to do in L.A.: rockin’ out, September 7-9
The music lineup in L.A. this weekend is just as diverse as Angelinos themselves. From classic rock throwbacks to mind-blowing and experimental psychedelic jams, Los Angeles has you covered for any kind of music you might want to see. No matter which event you decide to attend, this weekend is sure to rock.
Crosby Stills and Nash
Even without the "Y" in CSNY, this powerful trio is sure to put on a great show this Friday. The members of this group (which somehow found a way to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame more than once) will be filling the Greek Theater with their musical harmonies. This is a perfect way to "Teach Your Children" what great classic rock is all about.
Robin Thicke
Friday Robin Thicke will be serenading the crowd at the Orpheum Theater. It's true that his hair looks a little 90's-esque, but this guy is all about what's new in R&B. Listening to the singer's sensual offbeat songs is the perfect way to gear up for a weekend of music.
Echoes West Festival
For something really "out there" this weekend, check out Echoes West Festival. This event boasts an assorted group of psychedelic bands that strive to send you back to the trippy 1960's. Prepare yourself for some serious long jam sessions this Saturday.
Styx
"Come Sail Away" this Saturday at the L.A. County Fair with the beloved classic rock group Styx. Grab a funnel cake and then grab a front row seat to the revival of the 70's.
Mary J Blige
This Sunday Mary J Blige is coming to Los Angeles to give everyone a true mix of rap, hip-hop, pop and R&B. So if you prefer something a bit more upbeat than the soulful stylings of DMB or CSN, you might want to check out Mary's show at the Gibson. The recipient of nine Grammys, this musician definitely knows how to put on a performance.
