Cover of the Week: Poolside, "Harvest Moon"
There's a mellow end-of-a-long-week mood here at Critical Mob, so as the work day starts to wind down, senior editor Paul Parreira cued up this relaxed electro take on Neil Young's cozy celebration of domesticity "Harvest Moon" by Los Angeles duo Poolside.
Neil's music takes surprisingly well to electronic reimagining: remember St. Etienne's amazing take on "Only Love Can Break Your Heart" back in 1991? Poolside -- Danish-born producer Flip Nikolic and singer Jeffrey Paradise -- keep the intimacy of Young's countrified original while transferring the vibe to their own self-described "daytime disco" sound. Their debut album is due out later this year.
