Comic book O.C.T. coming to A&E?

After the success of AMC's The Walking Dead, another cable network is looking to adapt a horror-themed comic book series for the small screen. Both A&E and The Walking Dead producer Gale Anne Hurd are working on O.C.T.: Occult Crimes Taskforce, a series about a special New York City police unit charged with investigating cases related to the occult. First published in 2006, the comic was co-written by actress Rosario Dawson, who co-starred in such films as Grindhouse, Sin City, and Alexander. Should O.C.T. make it to production, there is a possibility that Dawson would star as Investigator Sophia Ortiz, the task force's newest recruit.

While Dawson would certainly provide a recognizable star for the series, equally intriguing is the involvement of writer Jorge Zamacona, who has police procedurals (Homicide) and supernatural dramas (Millennium) on his resume. If he can successfully mesh grit and horror with the cinematic look and feel that Hurd brought to The Walking Dead, it doesn't take a mystic to see that O.C.T. has the potential to be a hit.
