Coachella Festival to leave Coachella?
Coachella may be leaving its Indio home after 2013 due to the possibility of a new tax on admissions. If the tax initiative passes, those in charge of the festival are claiming they will most likely move Coachella out of its namesake valley. According to promoters, the new tax could cost them an extra $4 to $6 million a year. For festival-goers, this would mean ticket prices that are already in the neighborhood of $300 would further inflate.
The move would also mean that there would be no 2014 Coachella, with the festival remerging in 2015. One possible new locale: America's golf capital, La Quinta, which is situated just west of Indio.
