Captured Tracks teams up with Flying Nun for awesome reissues

Captured Tracks have announced plans set to further cement their reputation as one of the best independent record labels in the country: a partnership with the prestigious New Zealand DIY label Flying Nun to reissue some of the finest pieces in that label's back catalogue.

According to a statement from Captured Tracks' website, this campaign will be similar to the comprehensive projects the label has taken on recently for such diverse artists as The Cleaners From Venus, For Against, and The Monochrome Set. Expect to see "boxed sets, expanded reissues of 12" EP's, 7"s, LP's on all formats as well as posters, shirts, and various other items from Flying Nun's deep archives." In other words, there goes this writer's New Year's resolution to be more careful with his personal finances.

First up is a definitive 28 track, 2xLP compilation of the work of Toy Love, a somewhat obscure Flying Nun supergroup who fully embodied the label's signature mixture of sunny psych pop and post-punk abrasion. They were the label's first act, and members went on to play in such Flying Nun cornerstone acts as Tall Dwarfs and The Bats.

No release date yet, but as with all things Captured Tracks and Flying Nun, we're sure it'll be well worth the wait.
