Calling all artists, engineers, and architects: Ideas City wants you

After the success of 2011’s, culture and arts celebration, Festival Ideas for the New City the New Museum is excited to announce Ideas City. Ideas City will have all the innovation, creativity, and ambition as the last festival, just with a catchier name.

From May 1st to the 4th, a collection of vendors, informal classes, performances, and more will pop up along the Bowery (right by the New Museum itself) all in the vein of alternative thinking. Now here’s where you'd come in.

The festival and The Storefront for Art and Architecture are teaming up to find the best submission from all you artists, engineers, and architects. The challenge for you to design an ecofriendly, creative temporary structure that fits the theme of “untapped capital.” The festival doesn’t just want the plain old tent look. They want something fresh and exciting that reinvents the idea of a typical street fair.

Your design should be for a space of 1000- 1500 sq feet and be a minimum of ten structures. There are a lot more specifics which can be found on Storefront’s website. The submission process does seem to be a lot of work, but if have a big idea and you can get your proposal together by February 8th it is totally worth the effort, but don’t forget to register by January 18th.

May the best pitch win! You should probably stay away from tent puns.
