British sitcom The Inbetweeners gets U.S. movie remake

Lately it seems like everything's coming up limey-- the London Olympics, Adele, even Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield was born in Los Angeles but grew up in England). So it comes as no surprise that Paramount recently announced they're planning on adapting the hugely popular British sitcom The Inbetweeners for us Yanks.

Centered on a group of socially awkward high school friends, The Inbetweeners became a massive hit due to its affectionate, cringe-inducing portrayal of teenage life and friendships-- think of it as the British Freaks and Geeks. Paramount, whose sister company MTV debuts their remake of the critically beloved show in August, is either planning on adapting the series as it is, or merely using it as inspiration for a generic road trip comedy. Either way, here's hoping the brotherly love between Will, Jay, Neil and Simon doesn't get lost in translation.
