Bradford Cox gets teenage kicks for documentary soundtrack
Deerhunter/Atlas Sound mastermind Bradford Cox is creating an original score for the upcoming documentary Teenage, a fitting career move for a guy who enjoys constantly reminding listeners that he was, in fact, 16 years old at one point.
The film, due out sometime next year, is the most recent project from director Matt Wolf, whose filmography also includes the excellent Arthur Russell documentary Wild Combination. Based on a book by Jon Savage, Teenage tells the story of the post-WWII genesis of American youth culture, and will hopefully finally answer the question, what's all the hoopla with this danged rock n' roll music? Sounds like a bunch of malarkey, if you ask us!
Cox will also appear onscreen this coming year as Jared Leto's lover in the AIDS epidemic drama The Dallas Buyers Club, which begs the question, when is he going to go ahead and take some risky artistic choices?
