Art Clip of the Day: Peter Greenaway's Intervals

Known for the kind of tightly mapped narrative that would later produce films like A Zed & Two Noughts, Peter Greenaway had a whole career prequel as an art filmmaker who had gotten his start as a muralist. He also worked for a government office as a director and film editor in the 1960s while turning out experimental films filled with stillness and masterfully conceived composition.

Intervals (1969) was shot in Venice near its Biennale and employs a metronome-like soundtrack and the recitation of the alphabet to accentuate the unending rhythm of the everyday.
