Anthony Hopkins takes on Hitchcock
No stranger to horror, Anthony Hopkins is no longer playing the object of fear, but the director of it. New images have been released of Hopkins' new film, Hitchcock, where the actor bears an uncanny resemblance to the legendary filmmaker.
The film, originally titled Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho, has been shortened to just Hitchcock, and started shooting last Friday the 13th. Other big names attached to project include Helen Mirren as Hitchcock's wife, Alma; Scarlett Johansson as the famous shower victim, Janet Leigh; and Jessica Biel as Vera Miles, the sister of Leigh's character.
Sacha Gervasi, whose previous credits include the documentary Anvil! The Story of Anvil, will be directing. And because we can always do with more Hitchcock, BBC2 Film is also making a competing project titled The Girl, about the obsessive relationship between Hitchcock and his leading lady Tippi Hedren during the making of The Birds. Toby Jones (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy) will be playing Hitchcock, with Sienna Miller playing Hedren.
Both films look promising just from the publicity stills. May the best Hitchcock win.
