Animal Collective launches interactive website
Animal Collective has always been a band that uses everything at their disposal to create multidimensional experiences for their audience. In March of 2010 they took things a step further and created a multi-platform installation with artist Danny Perez at the New York Guggenheim they called Transverse Temporal Gyrus. The show combined snippets of music created by all the individual members that were reconfigured and layered in a randomly focused way using a specially designed computer program created especially for the event. In addition to the sounds floating within the museum's spiral staircases, those attending were treated to spacey visuals and costumed performers.
The group released music from the performance for this year's Record Store Day and now they've launched a fully interactive site that lets users re-create the live show's experience by mixing and matching beats to form original soundscapes. We approve.
