Alamo Drafthouse set to open NYC branch

The most beloved movie theater in Texas, Austin's Alamo Drafthouse just announced that it is setting up shop in Manhattan, news that is bound to thrill all NYC-area cinephiles. The film venue will feature five screens and occupy the space formerly inhabited by the Metro Theater on the Upper West Side.

The theater, slated to open in 2013, will boast new film releases and an eclectic mix of repertory selections. True to its name, this Drafthouse will offer food and drinks that are brought directly your seat, and it will enforce its renowned no-talking rule. Manhattan's Drafthouse will join other branches of the chain, which are primarily found in Texas and Virginia, with even more venues on the way in San Francisco and Littleton, Colorado.
