Tom Waits to release ultimate coolness collab of photos with Anton Corbijn

Mark your calendars for May 8, because that's the day that your life will get 10 times cooler.

The second Wednesday in May sees the limited release of Waits/Corbijn '77-'11, a collector's edition photo book which features over 200 pages of portraits of Tom Waits as photographed by Dutch visual master Anton Corbijn. The linen-bound book not only has intros written by acclaimed film director Jim Jarmusch and the one and only Dean of American Rock Critics Robert Christgau, but will also features over 50 pages of photographs and reflections by Waits himself, the first time anything of the sort has ever been published by Waits.

The collaboration chronicles over 35 years of Waits' career, beginning with the first photos Corbijn took of Waits in 1977 Holland. As Corbijn states, "It's rare to take photographs of someone over a 30+ year period. Our work together developed totally organically and that's a beauty in itself. We are very serious about our work but when it comes to working together, we're like children resisting maturity. It's liberating and a much needed legal drug."
