Molly Ringwald makes impressive fiction debut
There are two questions for the ages. The first: "What can't you do with a drunken sailor?" The second: "What can't Molly Ringwald do?"
Neither of these questions might ever be answered, but what can definitely be surmised is that actress Ringwald (of Pretty in Pink and Sixteen Candles fame) can write, and write well. She first earned her non-fiction writing chops with the publication of her memoir Getting the Pretty Back in 2009, and will now expand her literary horizons with the fiction collection When it Happens to You: A Novel in Stories.
Think Ringwald might not be up to par? See for yourself at 5Chapters, where a short story from her collection is currently being serialized. The piece, titled "The Harvest Moon", follows the character of Greta as she, her husband Phillip, and their daughter Charlotte go in search of the rare harvest moon amid familial tensions and minute mishaps. The first installment of "The Harvest Moon" is available here.
