Indie sideman reveals his other talents.

One-man-band Kelly Pratt might have named his solo project after a classic Rahsaan Roland Kirk LP, but it's much more instructive to note that the multi-instrumentalist has worked with Arcade Fire, LCD Soundsystem and Beirut. Horns, reeds, accordions and handclaps power these 10 widescreen indie-pop songs, topped off with Pratt's appealingly offhand vocals. "Milwaukee" arguably veers too close to Beirut's trademark gypsy-mariachi hybrid, but the New Order-ish synth pulse of "Behind the Gun" makes for an interesting stylistic detour. An immensely likeable debut.
