Music Review

Days

Album | Real Estate
By T. Cole Rachel

Jangly, rainy-day pop music of the highest order.

On Days, New Jersey's Real Estate do away with all the sonic fuzz that coated earlier releases and reveal their most sparkling set of melancholy suburban jams yet. Sounding like some cross between The Feelies and a long-lost surf band, Real Estate craft pristine jangle-pop songs that swing and sway in all the right places. On lead single "It's Real," the band marries sweet sentiments with equally sugary melodies and lots of sighing oohs and ahhs in the background. It may not exactly be groundbreaking rock music, but when a band can breeze through 10 tracks of effervescent downer pop with such ease and remarkable clarity, it's certainly no small feat.
