Woven Tide

Album | From the Mouth of the Sun
By Stewart Mason

Subtle, beautiful electro-acoustic drones.

From the Mouth of the Sun is a intercontinental collaboration between Swedish ambient electronic producer Dag Rosenqvist (who most often records under the project name Jasper TX) and Kansas-based cellist Aaron Martin. These eight tracks, ranging from just over one to nearly 12 minutes, blend Martin's cello (often heavily treated) with Rosenqvist's electronics and found-sound recordings (ditto), creating hazy, soft-focus sound fields that billow and ripple gracefully before fading away. More of an extended mood piece than a record to be listened to intently, Woven Tide creates a subtle, beautiful atmosphere, ideal for late nights, that lasts just long enough to sink in before it dissipates.
