Critical Influences: The Pains of Being Pure At Heart
By Stewart MasonIn an exclusive interview with Critical Mob's Chris Payne, Kip Berman, singer/guitarist of Brooklyn's own The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, talks extensively about his band's myriad influences and why he doesn't mind getting compared to his favorite bands: "We are sort of the opposite of competitive, and hope people that love music have the opportunity to discover as much of the stuff they (and we) like as possible. I mean, that's how we learned about things." In that inclusive spirit, Kip shared a list of some of his favorite artists and labels, self-deprecatingly claiming "You'll see where we get all our best ideas."
