Jenifer Reed
Ryan Reed
When Ryan Reed was four years old, he made the still-regrettable decision to bop around with a pretend microphone in his front yard singing The B-52s' "Love Shack" while his parents secretly filmed the whole event. And though he's gone on to cover a lot more indie rock than '80s pop in his still-blossoming career as a critic and journalist, he still carries close that childlike perspective.
Ryan grew up on Rolling Stone and Spin, savoring each word, absorbing album covers and back catalogues as if studying for some future exam on Rock. After cutting his teeth as a music reviewer for PopMatters (where he is now Associate Music Editor) and Consequence of Sound (also Associate Editor), he's gone on to publish for the likes of Paste, Billboard, American Songwriter, Boston Phoenix, Relix and tons of other websites and alt-weeklies. His computer hard-drive is riddled with recorded song fragments and embryonic screenplays he'll likely never finish. He currently lives in the journalistic metropolis of Williamsburg, Kentucky, where he spends his non-writing hours listening to dusty vinyl records and acting silly with his wife/best friend, Jenifer.
