Ranjani Gopalarathinam
Ranjani Gopalarathinam's passion for culture led her to New York City from Washington, DC, in 1998 where she quickly found not one, but many communities of friends and collaborators who shared her diverse interests. Soon, Ranjani began contributing regularly to The FADER magazine about fashion and style. This grew into freelance writing for culture publications like SOMA, Time Out New York, and Refinery29.com. During this time, Ranjani had the opportunity to write about the designers and artists she was meeting in the city. In 2005, Ranjani authored a New York City guide entitled The New York Book of Shops, which came out in a second edition in 2008. With its colorful cast of characters and neighborhoods, this book is her ode to New York, where anything is possible. Alongside freelance writing, Ranjani has worked as a trend forecaster, marketer, and copywriter for well-known brands and publications like Real Simple, Glamour, and style.com. She brings relevancy and a true love of life and learning to her writing practice as she continues to seek what's between the lines.
