Phil Guie
While attending college in Florida, Phil Guie switched from business studies to English, then decided to move to New York City so he could finish his schooling at NYU. But despite following his heart, things have worked out surprisingly well for him. He began his professional writing career as a reporter for a chain of weekly newspapers, where he covered everything from local politics to the arts, and later worked as an editor. During his tenure at the paper, he started a film section devoted to movies set in Brooklyn and Queens, for which he interviewed and wrote articles about the likes of Dito Montiel, Ramin Bahrani, and others. Since going freelance, Phil has written extensively about film and comics, and his work has been published on such sites as Cinemaspy and Manga Recon. He currently lives with his fiancée in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Sunset Park, where he hosts the occasional movie screening.
