CONTRIBUTOR PROFILE

Kristy Puchko

Kristy Puchko is a freelance writer, video editor, and animator based in New York City. Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania (a small town immortalized in the crude cult classic Slap Shot), her parents helped her foster an early obsession for film by frequently running their pint-sized film aficionado to the nearest video rental outlet: Giant Eagle Grocery & Video. In 2001, she moved to New York to attend film school at Brooklyn College within the Macaulay Honors College program, and quickly became enamored with the city's diverse culture and wide range of cinema-seeing opportunities. Since graduating, she has gone on to create a number of short films that have successfully toured the festival circuit. In addition to her thriving postproduction career, Kristy began writing professionally in 2010 on The Film Stage. Since then she has reveled in the opportunity to support worthwhile cinema while warning moviegoers about sub-par fare. When not watching or writing about movies, she's most likely playing Smash Brothers with her husband or reading quirky, yet bittersweet, memoirs through very thick glasses.
